What is "Woodbadge Training"?

Sir Robert Baden Powell of Gilwell The Woodbadge Training (also known as "Gilwell Training" or "Woodbadge Course") is a part of scout leaders education.

Sir Robert Baden Powell wanted the scout leaders from all around the world to be well educated in everything they do. But the education is different in every country.

scout-lily of the DPSGWe offer scout leaders from all around the world to take part in the way the german scout association "DPSG" does its Woodbadge Training. This is a very special course, because additional to the "normal" course contents we focus on the contact between scouts from many different countries.

During the week the participants will get to know each other, scouting structures and traditions from around the world and will learn a lot of new methods as well as reflecting themselves and the methods they use.
The main method of the WBT is the "Project Method". In this method, the participants are up to find a project they ALL want to do during the week of the course. EVERYTHING is possible to be the project - but it has to be finished by the end of the week.

The WBT doesn't take place regularly. It is a unique project, inspired by IMWe, because many international scouts were interested in the project method we use. We did a course like this in 2005 for the first time and really can say that is was a big success. If you want to see and read about the first WBT, click on "2005" in the menu.

If there are any questions left about our methods or any other details, please check the "facts" and the "frequently asked questions" or just contact mail to the team the Team.
